New Zealand is a magical place to visit and fish. If you are here just to get info about fishing our local waters, below we have provided you with some good informational resources. Just so you know, we don't offer taking people out on our rivers and lakes, as we are not guides, but we are happy to share some resources with you to help you get more information about how and where to fish. In addition, we also have a few club members who are amazing guides, and you can find their contact info by clicking on the "More +" link at the top of this page, and head to the "Our Guides" section.

For more about fishing our local waters, you can start with contacting either the fine folks at Hunting and Fishing Queenstown, or the amazing crew at the Patagonia NZ store in Queenstown, about where to fish, how to fish, and what flies to use.

Here are some online resources for you as well:

This site, the official home of New Zealand Fish & Game, has all sorts of useful information about where to go fish and the fishing regulations in New Zealand.
https://fishandgame.org.nz/freshwater-fishing-in-new-zealand/

We regularly have new licensing regulations, so please be sure to read up on that info at NZ F&G site.

Please be aware that most of the fishing is upstream. Also, if you park your car to fish, please leave a note to tell others that you are fishing and what direction you went. It is okay to walk downstream to fish upstream, but only if you are not stepping down on other anglers moving upstream. FYI, some of New Zealand's Fish & Game designated beats require that you do park and walk downstream to the start of a beat.

Also, please wash all your gear when you move from one river to the next. FYI, no boots with felt soles are allowed in New Zealand.
